LEWES SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER (LSAC) TRANSPORTATION SERVICE

The Lewes Senior Activity Center (LSAC) is pleased to provide transportation service for LSAC members for medical appointments, grocery shopping, other errands, and to come to the Center. The service is a shared-ride concept using a shuttle van. All rides

are round-trip. To accommodate the growing demand for transportation, the following rules are effective as of January 1, 2025:

TRANSPORTATION HOURS:

* 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday - Friday.

* Drivers must be back at LSAC by 4:00 pm.

* Summer hours may vary.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICE AREA:

* We serve parts of Lewes, Rehoboth and Milton.

* Please contact a Transportation Coordinator, Neil or Sue P., at 302-645-9293 to determine if your pickup and drop-off locations are within our transportation service area.

* The service area may be limited during peak traffic times and/or based on road construction.

NUMBER OF RIDES PER WEEK:

* Limit of TWO (2) round-trip rides per week per member; however, one additional round-trip ride may be added (total of 3) for a medical appointment.

* Limit of ONE (1) location per day; however, riders may request TWO (2) locations if both are for medical purposes.

* There is a ONE (1) HOUR limit for shopping.

SUGGESTED DONATION:

* $5 suggested donation for rides other than to LSAC.

SCHEDULING RIDES:

* Rides must be requested at least 48 hours in advance.

* Rides for medical appointments should be scheduled as far in advance as possible.

* Non-medical rides may be scheduled up to TWO (2) WEEKS in advance.

RIDE PICKUPS:

* Riders must be ready at least THIRTY (30) MINUTES in advance of their scheduled pickup time to accommodate early arrival by the driver.

* Drivers will wait up to FIVE (5) MINUTES beyond the scheduled pickup time.

* Riders must have a working phone with a functioning answering machine so that LSAC personnel can reach them regarding scheduling changes, cancellations, etc.

CANCELLATIONS:

* If you must cancel, please do so as far in advance as possible. Repeated failure to cancel in advance may result in the temporary loss of ride privileges.

* While LSAC seeks to accommodate transportation needs for all our members, we give priority to medical rides. Accordingly, we reserve the right to cancel non-medical rides at any time to accommodate medical rides. Your understanding is appreciated.

MEDICAL ISSUES:

* Please be aware that LSAC transportation drivers are not authorized to provide medical or emergent care.

*Accordingly, LSAC cannot be the designated driver for invasive medical procedures or

procedures involving anesthesia.

* If a member has a medical issue while at the Center but rejects medical advice, LSAC will not provide transportation home for that member.

For further information, or if you would like to schedule a ride, please call a Transportation Coordinator, Neil or Sue P., at 302-645-9293.    We look forward to serving your transportation needs.
